Was watching Revenge of the Nerds on WGN, and they broke in and announced it. I came and posted (wanted to be the first, so bite me). Was just before 3pm this afternoon

I hate Catholics like none other, but this Pope was reasonably cool.
.........
So I'm trying to say this sucks that he's dead.

i dont think anyone can really say the pope was not a good guy, everyone is sad he's gone, but its really no surprise. he was old and lived a full life.
i cnat remember where i heard this, but there was some guy a long time ago that predicted when the apocolypse will occur, something like the end of the reign of a pope, then gave a number, i dont remember the number of popes he said there would be, but i do know that john paul II was the third to last pope. so only two more popes until the end of the world.
hope they pick a young guy.

ya, i had to announce it over the radio, it was tough. i know hes in heaven now, but (as i had to listen all things considered report on it) we still needed him here. i hope the next pope is as strong. i got the report at 1358, so was about noon that he passed away, i guess.

No joke, but he passed on at 13:37 Central Time, or 1:37. Guess the Pope was 1337.

For those interested, Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, here in Rolla, will be having a memorial mass Wednesday at 7pm for Pope John Paul II (formerly Fr. Karol Wojtyla).

Yes, the Pope was a 1337 man.
As for the whole end of the world, this Pope was pope for quite a while, can't remember the exact number of years. But, given this, I think by the time the second one dies or whatever, I will be dead, and won't really give a damn.

How old are you? Pope John Paul II was the Pope for 27 years, and I seem to recall he held the position for longer than most.

He was the longest-serving pope in the 20th century, as well as one of the longest-serving in history. He was also the widest-traveled pope in history, as well as the only pope to ever visit The White House, Cuba, and a synagogue. He had a habit of ditching his bodyguards when he was younger so that he could go shake peoples' hands.
He was a holy and 1337 man, in whatever way those two words can possibly go together, and I don't know anybody who doesn't respect him or at least think he was an okay guy. Going into a jail and forgiving a guy who just shot at you, yeah, he rocks, in whatever way Catholicism and rockage can possibly intersect.
When that Polish man was made pope, it had been 455 years since the last non-Italian pope. I'm thinking that the next pope will be of South American origin. That be a great way to reach out to a whole continent, though Africa and North America certainly deserve some recognition as well.
