Well, saw this on WGN last night and found it on CNET this morning. Here's the link: http://news.com.com/RIAA+cracks+down+on+Internet2+file+swapping/2100-1027_3-5667385.html

Cliff Notes as I know some of you won't click the link:

1. RIAA looking for next target
2. What about the universities?
3. They choke on their collective woody when they see ihub on Internet2
4. 25 students at 18 universities are now being sued
5. UMR is not yet on the list
6. What dumbass IT deparment let them onto internet2?

Oh Noes! They're stopping people doing illegal things!!! How horrible! Gotta hate them for that. Them and the stupid pigs too. Trying to enforce laws. That's gay.
</sarcasm>

I love it when people complain about the RIAA, it's just like people who say "I can't believe that dick cop pulled me over! I was only driving 15 over with a BAC of .79"

I would say nothing much is going to happen in the meantime between now and June, which is important. In June the Supreme Court's ruling on the Grokster case will come out, putting forth pretty much the definitive decision about p2p.

Those cases will take so long to get going that the ruling will occur before then, whether good or bad.

To find out more about the MGM v. Grokster case that's before the SC, go here: http://www.eff.org/IP/P2P/MGM_v_Grokster/. All of the briefs etc are included on that page.

Edit: It's also very possible that p2p will stay alive, perhaps neutered. The Sony Betamax case has a lot to do with it.

Actually, I wasn't crying foul. I personally agree with you and the legality of file sharing. I did, however, think that this was a topic that most people on seek would be interested in one way or another, and isn't that the point of a forum?

Also, at this time, the RIAA is leaving i2hub alone, they are only going after the traders on it, I assume becuase they are waiting for the grokster case.

RIAA is a bunch of ignorant douches, they complain about every technology that has ever come out saying it will be doom for them and their money whoring schemes but they always still manage to make more. I'd really like to know what idiot let them have a license to get on I2.

They will never win, better programs will come out and they won't be able to do anything about it. BTW I don't give a shit what anyone else thinks, I will never pay for music again, period.

I’m also seeing a lack of machines to search on seek, what’s up with that guys?

Yes it is. It's the way that you presented that made it sound that way.

You can't equate complaining about the RIAA to complaining about a cop pulling you over for speeding while drunk.

9x = 9.9999... -x
9x = 9 (since x = 0.999...)
x = 1 = 0.99999

If the RIAA clogs the legal system up with these cases of some college kid downloading songs, who hurts no one and put no lives in danger will delay serving justice to people who are doing 15 over while drunk that are putting innocent lives in harms way.

Of course you could also say that its us clogging up the legal system by breaking copyright laws and forcing the companies into court. Not that I'm a big fan of record companies that sell overpriced records and music.

I can, and I did. It's an exaggeration to be sure, but the point was that people complain about getting fined/arrested when they do something they know is illegal.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Roit... let me tell you something, in high school, I had tons and tons of burned movies. Not because I downloaded them, but because I ripped them and encoded them. I learned a little something and I wasn't a leech. But I stopped, guess why. Because it's illegal. The fact that you would say that "only the smart ones get it for free" shows that you need help. You don't even consider the fact that other people want to do what's right.

So what is legal is always what's right?

I never said that, but 99.9% of the times, yes.

Might be a dumb question, but what's Internet 2?
