What is this? I'm not familiar with Black Friday.

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving. Traditionally, it has been called "Black" because, with the volume of sales, it was the day that retailers went from being in the red to the black.

Black Friday is the day when people who work in retail, like myself, wish to kill themselves.

I hear that. The 3 times it came around while I was working at Wal-Mart, I lucked out and got the evening shift...NOT the 6 AM mad rush.

I thought Black Friday was traditionally some Catholic thingamajig.

Catholics used to belive black friday was when jesus came to america, and partook in the first thanksgiving feast. Afterwhich he headed west into present day Utah, wrote a few extra chapters of the bible, and then walked back to israel. Sadly, he also started professing a hate for technology that weaved it's way into the native american culture, making it easy for europeans to pwn them in the distant future. Not one of his best philosophies IMO. That's why his life is a bit fuzzy in those teenage years.

Some of the savings on those appear to be ludicrous... little flash drive thing, 50 msrp for 10 bucks, sounds awfully fishy.

duh, thats why it's a big deal. can't believe you've never heard of it.

Sometimes they'll only have like 20 or so per store and they'll all be bought within the first 30 minutes depending on what other big items are on sale at the time. Also bunch of the stuff is rebates.
