Early this morning, police in London arrested 21 individuals accused of plotting a bomb attacks on airplanes departing for the United States. The terrorists were suspected of making bombs with certain liquids they were bringing on board. Hundreds if not thousands of flights today have been either delayed or cancelled.
Luckily, the terrorists were stopped once again, and justice has prevailed. It's just scary to think that people are still trying to do this shit.
This is the world we live in. God bless alert authorities. What's worse about this situation is that the "drinks" (for lack of a better word) were undetectable. If asked to take a drink out of the bottles they were using, they could have. Soon all we will be able to take on flights will be books. And then only paperback.
Acutally, in Britain right now, you can take your wallet, passport, and medications that you need for the flight on board. Everything else has to be checked.
its you listen to michael savage or i think i was listen to neal borts this morning, they are going INSANE over it. most are applauding the bush administration for finally naming Islamic Fascists as the enemy

Because the British Fascists are the good guys!
Yes, I'm just being contrary.
I don't think this is a big deal. Compared to your likelihood of dying in a car wreck, of heart disease, being struck by lightning, or eaten by a killer shark, your chances of being killed by a terrorist are pretty small, even without all the new government restrictions. Is it really worth all the infringements of personal liberties just to save the lives of the 0.001% of people who will die in a terrorist attack?
Yes, terrorists are bad people. Yes, they should be stopped. Yes, human life should be preserved. But at what cost? "Give me liberty or give me death" has changed to "give me a tiny sliver of a percent less chance to die by terrorist, and you can take all my liberty!" You want to reduce your chances of an untimely death? Give up cheeseburgers and twinkies, not your privacy and freedom. It'll increase your odds way more than giving up your freedom.

Personally i think preservation of personal priviledges and "infringement of rights" is being a little over rated? so what someone somewhere may read my email about having sex or buying a new car. so what if they hear me talk? I have nothing to hide and a minor inconvience, 10 minutes at the airport so what? if that stopped possible death or discouraged someone from causing harm for some fucked up ideology then well so be it.
until the day the police try to search my house cause i told my friend that i smoked pot over the phone then i dont think my rights are being abused.
and if you start talking about profiling immigrants well ya know what i dont care, if someone is not a CITIZEN of this country frankly in my opinion, until they become one they dont have right here. till they pay our taxes, contribute to our society, and go through the ropes in order to be living her under our laws and jurisdictions, they can fend for themselves for all i care
profiling middle easterns im sorry it is wrong but sometimes to prevent catastrophes somethings happen. as michael savage said last night, look at the passport photos and names of the arrested alleged terrorists (yes i admit they are alleged cause they have not been convicted or as far as i know even charged yet), they are not John Does or Joe Smiths.. they are ahmeds and mohammads, and alis. and when someone is coming into or leaving this country, esspecially when they are not a citizen, if they fit a profile and their life is temporarily inconvienced till they are cleared. so be it.
call me a bigot, call me a republican, call me a douchebag but thats my opinion

They are also Timothy McVeighs, Ted Kaczynskis and Terry Nichols's,

Here's what you totally neglect though. Terrorism isn't about killing people, its about the idea of them killing people, at least to the people being attacked. Its about making people change their thinking because of fear of the next attack. Sure if Americans were completely carefee and callous, (some would say logical) about these deaths, you would be absolutely right.
However, for the public's sake, they need to prevent these attacks, so we as Americans can sleep soundly at night and remember that big brother protects us. Otherwise, if the public saw that this was inevitable and we could be attacked at will, there would be pandemonium and panic in the streets. To me it has become apparent that freedom at times must be curtailed to prevent the masses from going crazy over an extremely unlikely chance that they'd be killed by terrorism.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Terrorism isnt about killing people. It's about putting fear into the back of people's minds and making them think twice about every action they do, and about changing the way society works. The killing is only the trigger to cause pandemonium.
They are also Timothy McVeighs, Ted Kaczynskis and Terry Nichols's,
For every Tim McVeigh there are dozens of others that The Religion Of Peace has produced.
And for every Muslim terrorist out there, there are hundreds of gang members and other violent assholes roaming the streets.
but how often are these gangs and assholes attempting to hijack commericial airliners, destroy political and economic building, and flood lower manhattan all in the name of political, religious, or social change?

None, but they're still deadly. In 2004, 16,000 people were murdered (Source, straight from the FBI themselves). Say we have 1 terrorist attack every 5 years that kills 3,000 people (number of people killed on 9/11, approx. number of people that would've been killed in this plot), that doesn't even hold a candle to the number of people killed each year from violent crimes. Buildings can be rebuilt, lives can't. The only reason 9/11 seems so bad is because it was 3,000 people all at once, if those terrorists would've spread out killing 3,000 people over a year, we'd never even notice.
