Be careful, you might get caught in the cross hairs of a lawsuit, even with the disclaimer...

Don't forget the part where she arranged for the next generation of editors to be fired, leaving the current staff poorly trained, and shit outta luck. Good thing she used all that travel money to go train people and fire them 2 weeks later. Great god damn idea.

But how could she fire a newspaper employee? That sounds an awful lot like censorship if you ask me. Now they probably won't even pay them to write...

If you're referring to me, I wasn't fired, I quit. I had way too much crap going on in my life. However, the fact they decided not to inform the editors that they were going to sue the school and that our names could potentially be attached to the suit made the decision a bit easier.

What's censorship is the fact that copies of the Mineshaft were thrown away by her.

I would guess that the persons who threw away copies of the Mineshaft would argue that it was not censorship. While that may seem extremely hypocritical (in my opinion at least), I am guessing they thought they were "doing the right thing." Should be good to know that you have people looking out for your best interests (even if you really wish they wouldn't commit such inane actions).

All I can say, is if you have someone throwing away multiple copies of someone else's newspaper (whether or not it is free), and they don't feel it is censorship, they are fools.

From what I understand (and this is all rumors at this point) is that the Miner was not able to secure a council for the first suit. No lawyer would take their case.

This suit is more of a safety measure for the Miner to be more able to take further action should this same situation happen again. If they continually take legal action, it will appear more likely that something actually is unconstitutional.

I do not agree with their tactics, but that is what I have heard from "an insider."

P.S. - I offer 3 brand new sporks (still in the wrapper) to anyone who successfully puts an article in the miner about how to successfully bow out of a losing battle graciously.

Yeah... note to EFC/SAFB... when you go to cut the Miner's budget again, don't tell anyone why, just do it.

In fairness to the SAFB, the stated reason for the final budget cut was not wanting to pay for student salaries with student fees. Everything else was discussion by the StuCo body.
