Stephen Colbert for President. In South Carolina atleast, I laughed and thought 'If only'.

Stephen colbert could seriously win if he wanted to. That's kinda sad but awesome at the same time.

You honestly think that the majority of voting-age Americans would actually cast a vote for him?
Maybe he could get a few percent of the vote, but surely you can't actually believe he'd have a chance at getting even close to winning.

keep in mind that the people in this great nation actually elected JFK and Ronald Reagan into presidency, as well as putting Arnold in office in California. Seeing as history is typically doomed to repeat itself, I'd say yes, there is a pretty decent change in hell he could be elected. People tend to prefer the familiar over the unknown, those that have watched the Colbert Report possibly feel that they know him better than some of the other "newbies" running for office.

I, however, cannot say whether or not him getting elected would be a good thing...

Yeah, but I think you are projecting the percentage of COLLEGE-AGE people who know who he is, onto the TOTAL voting population. I would bet money my folks have ZERO clue about who he is....

I think we'd at least see a huge increase in voters in the 18-30 demographic. Perhaps not win, but I think he could get close. Besides, as Bush showed in 2000, you don't actually have to get a majority number of votes in order to get the presidency.

I'm aware, and he probably won't be the last, but I didn't think a history lesson for everyone was really necessary when the Bush example is the most relevant one of our times.

You know, when the voter turnout is in the 40 percents, I don't think ANY presidentital candidate can claim to have a majority of the votes.

he's done so many things since creating his own "news" show. I dont really think he would win, but he would increase voter turnout, and i think that would be doing a huge thing in america. i'de love to see the attacks on his campaign by other candidates too
