Where are these people coming from?

FORT MITCHELL, Ky. Feb 11, 2005 — A nine-months' pregnant woman fought off and killed a knife-wielding woman who may have been trying to steal the baby, police said Friday.

Police said 26-year-old Sarah Brady acted in self-defense in killing Katherine Smith on Thursday. No charges were filed.

Smith, 22, had been falsely telling neighbors for weeks that she was pregnant, and a search of her apartment after her death revealed a full baby nursery, investigators said.

"She had everything in place that you'd expect to have in place with a newborn coming," said Steve Hensley, police chief in this Cincinnati suburb.

Brady, 26, was treated for cuts at a hospital.

Police said that about a week ago, Smith called Brady, a stranger, and asked her to come over and pick up a mistakenly delivered package. Brady picked up the package, the two spoke briefly and she left, according to police. Thursday's attack occurred after Brady went to pick up a second package at Smith's apartment, police said.

In December, a Missouri woman was strangled and her baby was cut from her womb. The baby was later found alive, and a Kansas woman was charged with kidnapping resulting in death.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't know that it would do that.

Is adoption that difficult to do? Honestly...

Apparently adoption is very difficult. It usually takes years before you are able to get a child. Plus, you have to have a background chack and whatnot.

Besides, theres a certain DIY satisfaction from harvesting your own children.

There are some people in this world that should not have, touch, give birth, teach, feed, play with, or generaly be around children.

I think if you're crazy enough to kill a lady and cut her baby out of her, then you probably aren't going to pass the adoption interviews.

I want to know why she just didn't get knocked up herself.

If a woman has always wanted children and then she learns she cant...but gets pregnant anyway, it's really rough on her when she miscarriages. Even if she medically "should" be able to have children...miscarriages are extremely rough and very very hard to accept if you're really wanting a child. They can majorly affect your body and the hormonal changes can mess with your brain. Mental breakdowns are more common than you'd think...from having a miscarriage.
Really, I'm not justifying the killing of a mother. It's completely wrong to kill to get a baby...but I'm saying, these women that are doing it, may not realize exactly what the extent of their actions are. They could be that mentally instable and that far gone by this point.
I think if these instances keep occuring, more research should be done on miscarriages and/or disorders that cause infertility to see the exact affect on the brain. That's just my opinion though....

And even if you would make a great mother and do qualify to adopt, it's still not the same as knowing that life grew inside of you...so if you've had that feeling, felt life growing in you and lost it...or even just longed for it....I can see how they'd get jealous of mothers that could carry to term.
