I'm going to upgrade my graphics card to prepare for the release of Oblivion, and I'm needing some advice. Here's a link to newegg's graphics cards in the $100-$200 range.
Give me your thoughts on what you think is the best bang for my buck and why.
Thanks seek.

Anyway, how hands on do you want to get? Any of the 6600gt's should be able to play the game just fine (mine is able to adequately handle new games, AGP 128MB verion, BTW). But, if you feel like tinkering, you could get a 6800 and spend some time tweaking and unlocking pipes to make it a 6800GT. Truly, this option would be the best bang for your buck, as you're paying for a 6800 but getting a 6800GT. I won't be able to help you with ATI cards (all I know are nVidia's), but I hoped this helped a bit.

I would most definitely go with the nvidia geforce 6800. Microtex, XFX, or Leadtek. Supposedly you can "unlock channels" so you get even more out of it. I personally have a 6600gt, and it's a beautiful device.

um, just as a note, i think only certain AGP 6800's can be unlocked. my PCIe 6800 cant be unlocked. So do some research on that if you plan to go that route.

What? I'm pretty sure the unlocking is to make the cards use all 16 pipes of the x16 PCI-E slot instead of the limited 8. That wouldn't make any sense on an AGP card.

The point of unlocking a 6800 is to take advantage of the extra pixel/vertex pipelines, which has nothing to do with the card having an AGP or PCI-E interface.
The Standard PCIe 6800s are based on NV41 that has a max of 12 pipes.
The PCIe 6800 Ultra and GT use NV-45 which has a max of 16 pipes-but I don't think you'll find a 6800 Ultra/GT lowered to 12.
All AGP 6800 use NV-40-which has a max of 16 pipes, but is often lowered when the chip doesn't perform-much like the difference between a PIII-550 and a PIII-500.
