My friend is trying to use a ilo 26" Widescreen LCD HDTV as his monitor. He has it set up using a DVi to HDMi cable, his resolution is set to 1280x720, and I'm not really sure of the other settings. Everything works fine except that it cuts off the edges of the display by about half the width of the Start bar. We've tried messing with the resolutions and most of the settings we could alter, but the best we could do is get the resolution set to 1280x768 where the display suddenly only took up about half of the monitor size, but the picture became very shaky and irratating to view. Does anyone have any pointers or does anyone just know how to fix it? He'd really like to be able to use his new monitor soon. thanks

Is the video card an ATI or Nvidia?

Install Powerstrip. Right click on the icon and go to Display Profiles->Configure... Click on Advanced Timing Options. Use the arrows to move the screen. Click OK.

You may or may not need to do that each time you change resolution or reboot Windows depending on Powerstrip settings.

ATI has an advanced setting just with custom resolutions for High-Definition TV's to minimize the overscan. It also includes some custom resolutions.

Well, we tried the custom resolution job, but it made everything very blurry. We're going to try the Powerstrip thing and I'll post back on the results. Thanks for the help, though, guys.
