I'm trying to SSH into one of the gpunix machines as usual, but now I'm getting this error:



Does IT fold up shop and turn off the servers when they go home?

I've been getting that quite a bit. It's really annoying when it leaves interactive programs hanging. I mean, you've got all that information there on screen, and you know it's gone. Just gone, man, and there's nothing you can do but weep. No amount of cut-n-paste will ever bring it back to the state it was.

Google sez the error happens when the TCP connection is established, but is closed before the SSH keys get passed. Likely culprits are /etc/hosts.[allow|deny] (TCPWrappers), IPTables, and/or evil space gremlins. My wildly inaccurate Educated Guess (tm) says it's something wrong with Doofus not allowing sshd to properly lock files.

I used to think gpuinx uptimes of a few weeks was lame. Now, I just wish they'd stay up for over a day. Hey IT, WTF?

Yeah, I figured those folks in Redmond were plotting against me.
