you prob have to take the screen off the computer, but to unplug the connecter you will have to almost completely disassemble the computer, and then you will have to split the lcd from the case and find a replacement backlight for it. I would find the backlight before i attempted any repair i have had a very hard time finding replacement parts for toshiba laptops, expect there to be no documentation on it, and expect for it to take you 6+ hours to take it apart a put it back together.
