As of a few days ago (last wed or thurs) my computer has not been able to play videos off the internet. My TV tuner card works just fine, and I can watch movies without a problem, but youtube/google video type files lock up both IE and Firefox. I have used both firefox 1.51 and 2, same problem.
Any suggestions?

Does the video start to play?
Does it totally lock up or get real choppy?

The only guess that I can come up with is something with codecs, but I'm sure someone else here can come up with a much better solution.

i would go along with that, except i was able to play them in the past (as in 2 weeks ago, and haven't changed anything since then)

The only reason I suggested it was that I had a problem where all my videos got real choppy, so I uninstalled codecs and reinstalled and they all worked. Now that I think about it, I don't think that is your case since only some of your videos don't work.

You need a codec to watch a video on Google Video or YouTube?

I would guess it might be your flash player as well...

you wouldnt happen to know where that is in firefox, would you? i removed it in the ctrl panel, but i can still view flash videos.
Also, i can't play *.flv (http://hotair.com/) through the browser, but when i dl them i can watch them through vlc.
