If you enjoy tinkering with your computer's hardware. You may not want to get vist too soon. The new licensing terms are not nearly as linient as XP's.

Yeah, check this out as well.

http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2850&p=3

Summary: Gaming performance in Vista will be about 15-20% WORSE than in XP. Apparently all of the new aero interface crap kills overall graphics performance.

Makes you wonder if this will be Win ME all over again.

FYI - Ya know those security updates that Windows forces upon your unsuspecting computer as a necessary update (Microsoft Genuine Advantage), well that same licensing agreement that Vista is being released with is added to the Windows XP EULA when you install it. So with any signifigant hardware change (for me, it was adding RAM), windows re-activation is necessary.

Good thing Ubuntu has become rock-solid stability wise. At least for me.

VMWare + Windows XP allows most non-3d accel. apps to run.

I was going to mention how Ubuntu is free and stable, but it seems I have been beaten to the punch.
