ok.. so ive got my hd projector setup.. only the componet or hdmi support the 1080... id like to be able to use my computer on it running at the 1080.. so i need to convert my dvi to either componet or hdmi..

hdmi is expencive.. expecially considering the distnace i need to cover, so i was thinking go with componet instead.

do they make dvi - componet adapters that work universally? i found this http://sewelldirect.com/dvivideoadapter.asp but it says it was designed for the ati chipset... ive got nvidia.. and i dont want to drop $30 on an adapter i cant use... does anyone have one of these... how well does it work?

are there any alternatives? or should i just fork over the dough and go with the hdmi cable?

hdmi is just dvi video + audio, so it is easy to convert.

hdmi adapters are not expensive if you buy them at the right place, namely monoprice.com

I highly, highly recommend bucking up and purchasing the HDMI cable. Plus, if you look around, there are sites where you can purchase cables for very cheap. Don't trust the prices from major retailers on cables. They rip you off horribly.

Yeah, you don't want to break the bank with a $2 purchase

What kind of video card do you have? Many have a multi function port, with adapters that come in the box that let you use composite/s-video/component. Just a thought.

no kidding. I work(ed) at circuit city (when i go home) and that is a huge profit area for the entertainment dept. you know a 2m HDMI-HDMI Monster cable goes for 125 retail... with employee discount i could get it for just under 50, and it actually costs less than 10 bucks to make. its practically pure margin.
