last semester i was here (WS04), i didnt experience any lag at all

(40-50 ping range)

then this semester, im constantly in 300+ range

anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't had any lag. My ping has been in the teens when I usually play...

Except for the UT99 servers I play on. Evidently there is nobody here that plays, so I play with some friends in Europe. Ping's a little higher there...

yea i havent lagged to bad in most of my apps.... maby some ones streaming.... lol oh god were all gonna die now

haha, it hasnt even started to get bad, you all are in for one hell of a networking ride. Oh and dont worry about talking to UMR-IT about it, they'll play your game for a couple of emails and then respond with something like.

"Due to limited resources, we must prioritize our tickets, could you please tell us how this applies to, academics... bla bla bla"

Yeah, the network goes to shit real bad, and you can blame that on your fellow resnet'ers that whore the p2p apps, and also you can thank those same type of people at mizzou

I can't wait until Thanksgiving. When even the simple downloads seem slower than a snail.

Your ping, in games, depends on the server yer trying to connect to. When my floor plays LAN CS, we all have pings of less than 40. When I play out on the net, it might jump some, but nowhere over 60. I still can download stuff from the net at like 50+ kbps. But, have noticed when trying to download stuff from people on the network, it does take a lot longer. Chalk it up to traffic, I guess.

Some of you youngins missed out on the semester that Mizzou routed all of their Internet-2 traffic through the same router that handled UMR. Man, that was a sucky time.
