If an image is left unmoved on an LCD for an extended amount of time (such as the windows login screen), will that image be burned into an LCD?

Cause there is a big line down the middle of my LCD that wasn't there before, and it matches up perfectly with my login screen (which is up often).

Pisses me off cause I paid an ass-ton for this monitor and it is only 2months old.

no, I believe LCDs dont suffer from burn in normally.

2 months old, it should still have a warranty?

Could it be from a dead backlight?

LCD's don't suffer image burn per-se. What happens is if an image is constantly displayed for a long time, a remnant/ghost image can be left. However, unlike CRT's, this is not an actual "BURN" and should be able to be removed.

Here are some methods on how to reverse or remove afterimage or image burn-in
-Turn your monitor off for several hours/days/weeks.
-Use a screen saver that uniformly "exercises" each part of your screen
-Display a white image on your screen for several hours/days/weeks

Yep, my roommate just had this happen to his alienware laptop.. his desktop icons sort of left a few small semicircles that were visible if you strained to look. He ran a winamp visualization fullscreen for a while (overnight I think) and I'm pretty sure it went away with no problem.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try some of these today.
