I use linux, but have access to windows as well, and I want to view the contents of a dmg file.
Here is what I tried:
Windows: dmg2iso perl script
Linux: mounting as hfs (yes i had hfs and loop dev support in kernel)
This is really all Ive had time to try. I understand that dmg files are made for MacOSX (10 maybe) only. I keep reading on how people were able to get files from the dmg images, but i sure as hell have not been able to.

You could set up a OS X install in PearPC and use it to read the dmg file.

that dmg file is a disk image file native to mac os x
the easiest way to view it is to burn the dmg file to a disk and take it to a mac with os x such as the macs in the library
if you have enough room in your afs stick it there of someplace on the mac hd that is not restricted by IT
you should be able to go to mac hd: applications: utilities: disk copy and use that utility to burn a disk from it as those macs have cdrw drives
basically the dmg file is like a mac native os x iso file
