Right now, I'm a Mac user and if I had my choice, would never use a Windows PC again. However, I'm a Comp Sci major and need a Windows machine to run MS Visual Studio.net 2003 unless I want to spend my entire day in a CLC. I don't have the money to buy/build a new Windows PC. But at home, I have an old, yet, still working Gateway Pentium II 400MHz computer with 384 megs RAM and plenty of hard drive space. I was thinking about bringing that up here and putting on Win2k pro and install VS.net, but Microsoft's site says the minimum requirement is a 450MHz PII, with a PIII recommended. Anyone know if before I waste my time if VS.net will still work even though the processor doesn't meet requirements? I dont care if its slow, but I want something that works. Thanks.

Well some of the computers in the CLC are about that old, and they run VS 2002 fine. I would guess that it would work.

I'm assuming that you're taking CS 153 (the only class that uses VS .Net), so I would recommend using VS.Net 2002 instead of 2003. The machines in the lab are 2002, and it'll be a royal pain in the ass when your program doesn't load because 2003 file formats are different than 2002. I tutored the class for 3 semesters, and the old machines we were running VS .Net 2002 were I believe ~400 mhz, running XP, and it ran ok, but not great.
