I'm having problems getting two machines to establish a 1394 network connection. I've tried using the network configuration wizard, as well as assigning static IP addresses. I can't get the computer to recognize that the other computer is there. I can’t help but think that it’s a configuration error somewhere. Below is a brief summary of hardware used in the connection.

Both computers are running XP Pro SP2, and connected by a 4-pin to 6-pin IEEE-1394a cable.

Machine 1: P4 3GHz using the onboard VIA IEEE-1394 controller
Macnine 2: P3 1GHz using a PCI VIA VT6306 controller
