I just recieved my new motherboard and ram, so I installed them in my computer. Problem is, now it is giving me the message "BIOS is not installed" and will not boot to windows. However, when it tries to start up I can go to the bios menu, so apparently it is installed and everything there seems to be okay. I have already narrowed it down that it is not the fact that it has an SATA port because I changed that to IDE in the BIOS.

That doesn't sound anywhere near correct. There are so many questions that i can't even begin. But I could only say, find the cmos jumper and clear that. Iono it sounds like such a strange problem.

What is the cmos jumper and how do I reset it? Yeah, it is a very strange problem. I made a floppy disk containing the latest BIOS for my motherboard that I got from the ASUS website, hoping that it would install them from that. All it does is tell me to get my damn disk out.
If you realize it is me from the pic, whom might I realize you to be?

to flash bios this is what you need
diskette
download bios you want
download flash software for mobo
format diskette for ms-dos startup disk
copy the 2 files you downloaded to the disk
then you can boot the disk and flash

Check your motherboard's manufacturer's web site for exact instructions on how to do this. You will recieve several warnings saying not to do this, but since your system is already messed up, it shouldn't matter. I recommend looking for the user's manuel online. That gives you an exact location and procedure for all jumpers and such.
Happy flashing!
