Yea you know the drill. I tried to hold off as long as I can with my current calculator. Won't keep up. Calc sucks. Anyway. Im looking for a Ti-89 titanium calculator to buy. Let me know what you have to offer. Thanks everyone.
Can't keep up? I've gotten through all the maths and two years of EE courses with just TI explorer plus (cost me $15.50 in the 8th grade). It's not the size of the calculator that counts, it's how you use it.
No its not just calc. I just need the features that it has that my 83 doesnt have. Just make it easier and quicker, plus the hard drive or watever is crapping out on me and the screen goes in and out. Its just time for an upgrade
Calc and any math course after that is just pushing letters, no numbers. if you need it to do tough integration and derivatives, you should prolly just learn to do it by hand. what calc are you in?

if you need a TI-89 to get through Calc you should quit UMR right now.
Agreed, I got through most of Calc without using a calculator. Once you get to the real engineering stuff later, a TI-89 is handy because sometimes you just don't feel like doing simple algebra.

Again, agreed. Although I can still do u substitution, it's much easier just to plug the damn thing into the calculator.

actually the titaniums are ridiculously slow compared to the older ti-89s and the 83/84 Silvers

ok straying from original topic.... anyone have an 89 for sale?
When I was looking for one a few weeks back there was a thread that had one for sale (and a pair of oakley sunglasses I think) but the thread creator never responded. You might try looking back a few weeks and see if you can get a hold of him.
For what it is worth, I was able to make it through all 3 calcs without an 89, but Stat 343 is pretty intensive on integration and it is just nice to have a way to check answers at intermediate steps so it doesn't take forever when you screw womthing up.
