Hi all,

I have the opportunity to buy up to 25 used 250GB IDE hard drives by Western Digital, model WD2500. They are 2MB cache drives--perfect for a RAID setup.

Anyone who wants one or several, post back here. You can have one for $60.

Thanks,
jkpq45

I would personally pay 16$ for something new.

eeks. that product description sounds like the refurbs that woot has all the time on 250 gig hdds w. 2mb cache. i personally had 2 of these in a row crap out on me, having the replacement for the first dud be a dud itself. i do know several other people who have had them without problems, so it is cheap storage for 250 giggs. the 2 mb cache means you wont want to run apps off of it though.

My roomie just had one of these drives (not sure if it's the exact model but pretty dern close) crap out on him the other day, and I had one run for almost a year and then it started corrupting like crazy but the RMA'd replacement has served for two years without skipping a bit. I guess reliability's kinda up to chance.

I have one of those woot refurbs that's been doing just fine for the past year or so, and it's in my DVR too so it's being read and written to for hours straight sometimes. I guess those drives are just hit or miss

For what it is worth, I too have one of those drives from woot and it hasn't given me any problems at all in the last 6ish months that I have had it. Not really fast, but for mass storage they aren't bad.
