The hard drive is a diamondmax plus 9 160GB ATA/133 HDD, i had a buyer but he just backed out on the deal. I'd like to get atleast $35 for this thingy. Item is brand new in packaging.
Well - you see, the way this works is that a seller needs to unload an item quickly, and easily. Seek provides a forum for this to happen without having to go through the usual shipping, ebay fees, and such. Thus, sellers can hope to get a decent price for their item, and buyers get a good deal.
If a seller hopes to get retail price for an item - its probably because its a rare item (ie Wii/PS3 earlier this year), or because they're extremely reputable and can prove (ie reciept) that the item is new and give a valid reason why you should pay them retail price instead of a store with a far better return policy, and a warranty in your name.
Besides, the starting bid never reflects the final bid, its usually somewhat less than a potential buyer would actually pay. The first bid is a place to go from to start bidding/haggling. The seller has to drop the price or offer more goods for their asking price, and the buyer has to be willing to come up some. its called negotiating.
