Post subject: hwo to mount a vmware virtual disk (*.vmdk file) in linux

i can't can i, their virtual file system's gotta be totally proprietary.
maybe there's a program that vmware sells as an addon that'll do it? or good old mount -t (type)?
i was hoping i could get some data from the vmdk file.
