Step one: Speak English.

Step two: Go see the movie yourself this Wednesday or after at the Forum. Don't download that, even if you can.

Was talking to my girlfriend earlier tonight, and she was going to see it. I had never heard of this. Apparently, they made like no commercials for it. All word o' mouth I guess. She knew nothing about it (save that Mel Gibson's in it), hence why she went to see it. Will talk to her either tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday, and try to get a little recap incase anyone actually cares.

She made some referance to Mel, and I assumed he was in it. Maybe he did direct it, I have no clue.

Mel Gibson directed it.
There are commercials for it all over tv, you must be blind.
The entire movie was done in Aramaic, the native tongue of Christ.
Hope you like reading english subtitles.

It stars Jim Caviezel. Mel Gibson directed and does not appear onscreen.

Ok, let me clarify things a little.

Mel Gibson is not starring in it, nor does he have any acting roles. But he did direct it and you could say he wrote it as well. He is picking up the tab for the whole movie though, as he is the producer, director, and his production company Icon is going to release it. It is a controversial story of the last 12 hours of Jesus' life based on the 4 gospels and a book written by a well known saint in the 19th Century. Many people are questioning Gibson's anti-semitism, though, because of the way they grusomely portray Jews. He has told all the media that he felt he needed to do this, and this movie is not about the money (as you can see by the lack of advertising, endorsement, and even lines). I don't believe any of the movie will be in English, mostly Ancient Latin and Hebrew, since that is what the Jews and Romans spoke. He is going for complete accuracy, or at least a movie based soley on the Catholic recognized documents for the last hours of His life.

And some trivia, Mel IS actually in it, his left hand actually. It is his hand that holds Jesus' hand as they nail it to the cross.

Maybe you should get a few facts straight snocat before you clarify for everyone else. Mel Gibson has openly renounced some catholic doctorine concerning the events in the movie, most notably the reforms of the Second Vatican Council. This movie is a free interpretation of the events and not strictly Catholic. The movie is in Aramaic and Latin due to the Jews and Romans respectivly. Koine Greek was used for the writing of the Gospels, not Hebrew. Hebrew was the language of the Old Testament, so recitals of Jewish Law by Christ's contemporaries could be in Hebrew.

He is a doctrinal Catholic, which means he doesn't like Vatican II and has a private church on his land that only preaches in Latin. He is a very strong Catholic believer, just he thinks it was better before they made the reforms in the 1960's. I forgot it was in Arabic and not Hebrew, thanks for correcting me.

But the movie is based soley on the original traslation of the Gospels and a book (I can't remember for the life of me) published by a saint in the 19th Century about the Passion.

Nonetheless, it should be a wonderful movie and I urge you all to go see it.

I do hope you meant Aramic.

In any case...this isn't even out yet is it? So why/how would it have hit the network already?
