my modified orginal controller works better i think... does anyone know where i can get some third party fixes for this.. i tried a google, course i may have just been looking in the wrong places, but i figured id try here quick before i went to bed, and maby someone would get back to me some time soon..
thanks guys

What games are you using it for? I got a logitech rumble gamepad that works great. I mostly play SNES and N64 roms with it, but have used it in NHL 2006 and racing games. Works great. I think you can find it pretty cheap these days. There is also a wireless version.

I bought the reg 360 controller, works like a dream. spend the extra cash if you want a great controller. I have used the logitech wireless, and wired-as well as a modded xbox. but this one is the best

Does the 360 controller come up as a regular USB HID joypad or do you need fruity drivers?

you can either use a CD it came with or Windows Update will give you the driver.
No 2nd party drivers with the 360, it was meant to play on the PC as well as the xbox
The 360 controller standard drivers doesn't come with options to adjust the dead-zone, which is virtually non-existant (frequently not a good thing). xbcd seem to work pretty well, but I've managed to live with the standard drivers.
