There is still hope of the NHL playing this year but it still doesn't look great.

Man, you're still holding on to hope? I gave up back in December! I figured its a shittin' contest between the owners and the players, and they're both so full of shit that its gonna be a long contest.

Ya, this season is a wash. I suggest getting a good hockey game, and use that to passify yourself until next season

Or you could do what I've been doing. Yes, I've been wearing out my copy of ESPN NHl 2K5 on my XBox because there obviously isn't any hockey to be watched on TV right now, unless you count the AHL All Star game which was on the other night. Then, if you can like I've been doing, you can head to Springfield or St. Charles, they are minor league teams still playing in both cities. The team in St. Charles, the River Otters, currently have Barret Jackman and Ryan Johnson from the Blues playing for them.

Which means one thing... go watch Jackman bust heads with the River Otters.

He's been doing pretty well at it so far. Went to a game this past weekend and listened to another while driving back to Rolla on Sunday and he already has a plus 16 in like six games. And in the game I went to his defense consisted mainly of putting guys into the boards.

It is a lockout, not a strike, so replacement players are not an option.

Even though in a story I read, the NHL commissioner is going to be considering ALL of his options when it comes to making sure next season happens, and he said using replacement palyers was a possibility.

If an impasse is declared then the lockout will become a strike and then replacement players become an option but while it is a lockout replacement players can't be used, for legal reasons of which I don't fully understand.

I got to see them shut out Ft. Wayne last Sunday in Ft. Wayne. It was awesome. Everytime Johnson/Jackman touched the puck everyone booed. Then when Jackman got credited with an assist, me sporting my blues jersey was standing and cheering. It was great having over 6,000 hoosiers just staring at me while I cheered him on.

The game is pretty similar to the NHL. It almost seems like its a bit faster because these players really care. I'll tell you what. Kevin Reiter, the goalie who played that night will be big if the NHL ever gets its stuff together.

by the way
