I like Sergei Rachmaninov, composer of four piano concertos, an excellent second symphony, and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Symphonic Dances, op. 45, two of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.

all of my mp3s are sorted by genre... when i first moved to school i think my two biggest directories were "ska and punk" and "classic rock"... after my music tastes changed when i got to school i was exposed to alt. rock that was actually good, so that directory (and also my "hip hop and top 40" directory... gotta throw a party every once in a while!) grew tremendously........ randomly going through my alt rock playlist right now
(hed) P.E.
2 Skinnee J's
AnchondO (put on a great concert at our house last st. pats, not a lot of people came though which is too bad they had a great set)
At the Drive-In
Bad Ronald (white hip hopsters who rhyme about getting blitzed. plus Let's Begin is the ultimate party song)
Basement Jaxx (part of my newfound love of electronic music)
Breaking Benjamin (one of those grungy rock bands who actually has talent. overlooked for shitty ones like "puddle of mudd" and "nickleback")
Chapeaumelon (i don't even know what language this is. i think spanish. check out their cover of my generation "mi generacion!")
Daft Punk (same as basement jaxx)
David Bowie (thanks to the Life Aquatic soundtrack!)
Disturbing the Peace (great st louis rock band played our house st pats 2001. check out their cover of bjork's hyper-ballad)
Dropkick Murphys (who doesn't like irish drinking rock)
Hot Action Cop
OPM
Phish (i just recently started adding them to my playlist)
Pomeroy (played our house st pats. 2002 and then Freaker's Ball 2002 GREAT jam band. i think they are somewhat popular now)
Radiohead (what can i say, kevin jr.)
Royksopp
Steriogram (these guys are good)
United States of Electronica (daft punk meets junior senior)
and last but not least, i think my favorite band for the longest time has been
Zebrahead
in total i have 851 mp3s in the genre... but i've still got at least 6 whole albums sitting in my download directory i haven't even had a chance to sample yet. this is compared to ~350 in hip hop and ska and punk, 250 in classic rock and 150 in classic hits
also, i'm a little curious on what media players you all use to play your .mp3s... i've seen people use winamp, i've seen people use WMP i've seen people use others..... i used to have winamp3 because of its sidecar thing you could have saved playlists in so i could easily click from list to list, but recently i found out that winamp5 uses like 1% as much system resources and i got this awesome plugin called "dynamic link library" that opens a window where you assign "roots" which are either a directory or a play list. so now i don't have to re-save a playlist just because i add a song to my alt rock directory. it automaticaly refreshes that directory. on top of that i have a search bar on top, so if i want to jam out to ... the two soul coughing songs i have... i can just type it in the search bar BAM! it's great i highly recommend it

I have to support my friends metal band from Salem. It's "Beneath the Flesh." I can't remember much of their stuff cause I was drunk and dizzy from all the headbanging. It must have been good if my neck was sore for a couple of days.
