I know its no big deal, but gas prices have fallen at least a dime. Whats the cause for this? Everyone was saying it was going to be at least three dollars at the end of summer. Whats the cause for this blessing?

Last year it was 10-20 cents cheaper than my hometown, now it is 10-20 cents higher. What the hell is up with that?

On average, nationwide, it's dropped 4 cents from last week.

The first noticible nationwide drop since I think they said October

Most likely it has to do with the end of winter. Refineries are begining to put more of their capacity into gasoline production instead of heating oil.

Interesting magazine article I read the other day. Can't remember where it was. But they took gas over the last 80 years or so, and adjusted prices for inflation. Gas is actually far lower right now than it has been for the majority of the 80 years. Even in the 70's and 80's.

If you then take this newly found price after inflation, and compare it to percentage of average yearly wage of an individual over the same time period, we're still at the lowest period ever.

Moral of the story: it's not so bad.

we also have more expenses considered nigh vital to be a member of society (internet, cell phones, cable tv (to an extant), etc) so that measure is somewhat flawed.
