i'm not going to bother to watch this video so i have no idea what you're talking about, but i DID notice in the US movie trailers that the character who appears to be zaphod beeblebrox only has one head and two arms.

meh, i'll be able to live with it if the movie holds up close enough to the origional story (i also saw scenes of the dolphins fleeing the planet, and the whale falling to earth. haha haaaaaaar)

seems like i saw in one of the trailers, that he had 3 arms... the third seemed to be tucked under the jacket in front...

Trog, an english major probably saw it, and hated it. Well, it could have been a business major, or a highschool dropout. No one knows the true genius of such humor as those on the pinnicle of technology.

a review i read gave it 2.5/4......douglas adams wrote the screenplay, so it oughtnt be too far off. im looking foreword to seeing it tomorrow night

Saw it. Funny. Plenty of stuff changed like it should be, so the new surprises were fun. If you've read the books, you'll like the movie. If you're a Monty Python fan (Douglas Adams wrote for them during the fourth season), you'll love the opening musical number. Marvin is perfect, both in character design and in voice execution by Alan Rickman. John Malkovich shows up as the leader of a strange religion and ends up having the funniest line in the movie. Jim Henson's workshop made some wonderfully sympathetic-looking Vogons with an amazing range of facial articulation. If you've heard the radio series, you'll recognize a nicely-orchestrated version of Journey of the Sorcerer just after the earth is destroyed. The factory floor on Magrathea is a stunning sight. And while there are uneasy sections of this movie that aren't all that funny, they're constantly being redeemed by fantastic moments that are hilarious, especially in the zoom-out just before earth blows up. I couldn't stop laughing. The animated version of "The Guide" is astonishingly funny and well-done. Couches and yarn show up in hilarious places. You'll love what they did with Deep Thought. The towel is actually used in this version, rather than just being carried around. The best lines from the book are still in the film, and the rest has been replaced with other ideas that Adams thought up somewhere. The ending leaves it wide open for a sequel that won't be made, but no matter. This one was enough. Stay for the credits. Yeah. That's about it. Go see it.

Very awesome. Great stress relief, made for a good date flick. (Well, that is if you're dating a sci-fi nut..) And yes, the opening song is very fun, and it's STILL in my head! There's a lot of stuff line-for-line out of the book. Then there's also a lot of new crazy twists and such.

No it's not pure cinematic genius, but then this is Douglas Adams we're talking about. The quirkiness is exactly what's needed.

damn, ya, didnt stay for the entire credits. i thought it was pretty good, though i enjoyed the book(s) more. I imagine i'll end up buying it to add to my 5 dvd collection.

For those that have seen it, how does the movie compare to the TV show?

The higher budget makes it much more palatable. Marvin is tons better in costuming (though the old Marvin makes an appearance on Vogsphere), and Trillian, while still not the greatest actress, isn't quite as dumb as she used to be. It's different than the TV show, and it's better in the sense that they could do what they wanted to do and weren't tied down by budgetary or technology-related restrictions, but it's not quite the same as when Douglas Adams was still alive. The TV show could do more because it was longer, too.

Honestly, you'll just have to see.

Oh, how could I forget? Trillian gets a gratuitous and completely unnecessary shower scene.
