Do you mean Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? If that's what you're talking about, then......
yeah, it was pretty damn good. I like the more darkly humerous direction of it. Depp was great as usual.

The word "bi-partisan" usually means some larger-than-usual deception is being carried out.
I'm still not sure how I feel about the oompa loompas... They were fine, but I don't know about the songs. I got use to it after a few songs, but the first few were kind of dissappointing. They needed at least one classic oompa loompa songs.
Other than that, the movie was awesome. I liked this one much better than the first. It was more of what the actual author would have wanted
Depp and the boy who played charlie are freaking awesome.
I agree that Depp was awesome, just like he always is. The problems I saw with the movie were partly Burton's fault. I normally like his work, but this remake should have just been passed on. The lack of songs was disappointing. (and i know the Oompa loompas sang, but it wasnt even good singing) When Wonka is strolling through the edible garden in the original, that song is a classic. The Charlie kid was good, just as he was in Finding Neverland, but the rest of the kids werent as good. I couldnt understand a damn thing Agustus Gloop said, Mike Teavee was a whiney bitch, and Veruca just wasnt a good actress. The parents all sucked, not an entertaining thing from the bunch. The Oompa Loompas were too short, but I loved how Burton added a backstory for them, as well as the flashbacks to Wonka's past. All in all, I'd say it was mediocre. I wasnt impressed.
I am however looking foward to the new animated film Corpse Bride, from Burton, also featuring Johnny Depp. Should be as good as Nightmare before Christmas if it lives up to the hype.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory is based off of a book. He wasn't remaking an old movie, he was presenting the book in a different way. All those songs in the 1971 version were written specifically for that movie, minus the one Wonka sang on the boat. I haven't seen the new one yet, but I'm looking forward to it still.
I've read Dahl's book, this movie had more depth toward the book, but i dont think it captured what Dahl wrote. And its pretty obvious that the songs were written for the book, but they were good. most books dont have a soundtrack. "I Want It Now" sang by veruca was a good song, and showed veruca how dahl wrote her, this veruca wasnt nearly as selfish. both had good and bad parts
