Peter Jennings died of lung cancer. Very sad. He was an honest-style straightfoward and intelligent anchor. Definitely the end of respectable era of journalism that I and others yearn for. Maybe someone can eventually fill that hole to some extent.

For those of us who were Brokawites and to a lesser extent Ratherins, what did he say?[/quote]
He mentioned something like if we had a different president things would be handled differently and the president wouldn't have to hide something like that.

It was rumored that he said after 9/11 that if we had a different President all of this would be handled much differently, later disproved. He wasn't my favorite anchor, however he did write all his material, and was one hell of a reporter. You could always count on hearing stuff about the world, as the title of his show indicated. I liked his calming attitude toward even the most sensational stories, he will be missed, and as Joe said it definately is the end of an era.
