Does anyone have any suggestions for good, free ID3 taggers? I am probably going to take the ipod plunge, and currently none of my music has any tags on them. I came up with my own naming convention that consists of having folder heirarchy:

Artist Name
->[year] Artist Album
--> track# - song title.mp3

Ex:
Pink Floyd
-> [1975] Wish You Were Here
--> 02 - Welcome To The Machine.mp3

It would be great if I could get a program that could parse through at least the filename, and in a perfect world the folder structure too, and fill in the tag appropriately.

Alternately, I could write my own program, if someone could turn me onto a good resource or example for writing to id3 tags.

I like Tag & Rename... It's not free though.

Tagscanner is good stuff. I did my entire collection using it since I'm a bit OC about my comp's organization at times.. saved me a lot of time.

Tagscanner has worked great for me in the past. Plenty of customization options.

Damn, I painstakingly did all of mine by hand in Winamp about a month ago.

Use musicbrainz tagger if you have windows. It labels most of your music automagically, and asks you about tracks its not sure about.
