So I had the misfortune of turning stations from comedy central to CMT this morning, and I have to say, it's been awhile since i've seen that much beer and that many hoes on a music video that wasn't rap. is that what country is now a days? I never enjoyed it at any point in my life, but I always respected it, the genre that was too timid for my tastes, now its rather Raunchy. i watched a few other videos and low and behold, i was greated by some very similar themes. Is country the pop/rock for hicks?

It seems that country music...people (I can't bring myself to call them "stars") are trying to do the same thing rap artists have been doing for years now. Hot chicks, lots of booze, a flashy and expensive piece of jewlery here or there, and of course expensive cars/other modes of transportation.
Is what I like about heavy metal music videos. It either tells a story that kinda goes along with the theme of the song, or is just the band performing. A win/win either way.
Then again, a hot chick in next to nothing can be good, too. My advice, mute the son-of-a-bitch and watch the girls. Is what I did when I happened to accidently be watching MTV and it was crap videos all night. Errrr, sorry, I meant rap.

I think Big and Rich are trying to change the face of country music. They got Cowboy Troy started with his HickHop, and consistently call their music "Country Muzik without Prejudice." They also encorporate a lot of rock in their music and pyrotechnics in their shows. I was never a country fan until I heard their music, now I think it is pretty catchy. That, and what country bands sing about actually has value, instead of most rap.

You all know what happens when you play a country song backwards, right? You get your house back, you get your truck back, you get your job back, your girl comes back to you.......

What? You mean like "Mah porch collapsed on mah dog and mah wife ran off wif the guy at the Phillips 66, but ah still got mah truck" ?
Yee-haw!
Obviously you don't listen to most of the new country.

most country music themes are either a) uplifting, b) respectful, c) the stereotypical lose everything or d) just goofing off (im gonna miss her, alcohol, etc). i much prefer to pump that sort of stuff in my head than what most other music (rap primarily, but also pop to some extent) is about. also alcohol has always been a theme of country music, at least as long as i remember, just not in the same way that it is in other genres.

I'm not challenging the typical genres.. but rather the music video category of country, the visual stimuli. that from what i have seen have been very raunchy, i've seen a few rap videos that have been tasteful in comparison, and a few far worse, namely the rap music videos in america are nothing compared to the ones of local groups when i lived in puerto rico.
but i've always viewed country as being the more tasteful alternative to well, most forms of music, it doesn't seem that way at all.

in general, it is. some vids are a tad raunchy, but i just went through the top 20, and the majority of the songs are either about haveing fun or love or just life in general.
