I'm curious how strong the anti firearm sentiments are, so let's do a little test. Would you come into my home and try to disarm me without a weapon of your own?
Keep in mind I have guns, swords, knives, baseball bats, etc, and some martial arts training to boot.

Why am I disarming you? This makes no sense.. Am I robbing you, why do I need to disarm you? I have no problems with firearms, but I'm not sure if I'll ever own one. Right now I don't have a need for that kind of protection and I don't hunt.

It depends. Are you willing to kill someone because they try to take away your guns, baseball bats, and swords?

Do you really value your material possesions over a person's life?

I value my family's life, which is why I would never let ANYONE take my firearms, ever. But, AC, what are you talking about, I think I just need you to elaborate a little more...

AC, there is no context to your poll. Post a good reason for the poll and you might get more responses. Is this directed agains LEO's coming and disarming you? Is it directed against a bad guy disarming you? What's the deal? Someone must be out of his mind to try to disarm someone in their own home for no reason. Again, what is the context of the question?

Well... the question is why would they* be willing to kill you for your material posessions, whether those posessions are your TV (*criminal) or a gun you have never used to hurt anybody else (*government). In both of those cases, the other party has first put your life in danger, valuing your material posessions over your life. In any case where someone unjustly uses lethal force (ie. to take your posessions - a threat of lethal force is the same as lethal force in most if not all US jurisdictions) it is morally justifiable to use lethal force in return.

In the case of a criminal (who is probably working alone/small group with no training/no coordination/no teamwork/no backup) you will probably win. In the case of a corrupt government (who is working in a large group that has trained extensively for just such an event, is well-coordinated with excellent teamwork, and has the police and military resources of the entire USA to back it up) you would nearly certainly die, in which case it would be far preferable to surrender and then fight in court.

Keep in mind also that you are the weapon, the rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc. that are being confiscated are just the tools. If a government decided to confiscate all the guns... you would be next. They know that if you had hidden any tools, or obtained a tool from a fallen soldier/police, you would still be proficient with them. They know that your mindset itself is dangerous. They will take away your tools, and when that is done they will confiscate the real weapon - you'll be in prison. That is the main reason people will fight back - better to fight and die one at a time while you've still got the tools to fight back.
