There was one of these earlier in the year and there was a thread for it, as well. I'm not sure if anyone ever truly determined what it was caused by, but it felt pretty powerful from my room in TJ. My roommate thinks that it was dynamite being used in the mines. If I remember correctly, most people thought that it was a sonic boom from some aircraft. Where is it coming from? Does anyone actually know?

I heard two different sets of booms. I was taking a nap and they first set woke me up. Didn't seem to shake my house. I live near Kroger's.

Yeah, I felt both booms, too. It felts like somebody ran their car into the side of TJ and then it exploded or something. Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

There is virtually no possible way that any ground vibrations from blasting at the mine could shake TJ. This summer I worked at a blasting company and 25,000lbs of explosive going off is barely felt at distances of a mile. Any blasting at the mine uses considerbly less explosive and also considering that the mine is 2.76 miles from TJ, this theory is busted

I call bullshit on that one. It was proximate, and was the requisite distance from the building (>25ft.)

Please don't put the image of her in the shower in my head. I'm going to go vomit now.

but sound travels in a straight line, therefore the sky is blue.

oh, ps. no fireworks could shake beds in tj, even if they were lit off in the lobby.
