The really sad thing is that they get their people to believe these things. The sadder part is its exactly the same as saying that such and such has weapons of mass destruction and is tied to Al Queda when the evidence is around the same strength.

I'm sorry to toss that side into it because its not quite the same, but it just illustrates the point that far too often people just blindly follow their leaders and evidence that can really be puffed up. The US has done alot of propaganda on this scale, but the Iranians are starting to push it too far. Then again, this is nothing new - the Arab world has been trying to push the lie that the Holocaust didnt happen for years, and I'm really surprised that they even backed down enough to say that maybe it did, but just not on that scale.

What I don't understand is that they say the holocaust didn't happen... but that they want to make a new one? Why bother saying it didn't happen when you're publicly pushing for a modern one? Why don't they just admit that it happened and call it a triumph? Some things I just don't understand.

Because they are pursuing the "Worst People Ever" award, and doing what you recommend would actually be intellegent, and push them further from the French stronghold on the title.
