Lordofstars is correct. The chancellor whats to eliminate the layer of middle management that is the 4 schools/college; Arts & Sciences, Engineering, SMIS, and SoMEER. Departments would basically remain as they are unless they want to combine or otherwise work together.

Today the "Chain of command" goes like this:
Faculty - Dept. Chair - Dean - Provost - Chancellor

Proposed:
Faculty - Dept. Chair - Provost - Chancellor

He is NOT proposing any change in degree programs.

Supposedly this change can be done without any layoffs of staff and eventually it will save $1.1 million/year. First year savings would be about half that.
