About 1400 people were onboard when it went down and as of now only 300 survivors have been found. From what I've seen thusfar the ship was not in great condition and sister ship had sunk in 1998.

The relatives of the victims in the sinking have attacked the firm that owned the ferry by breaking into Al-Sala, Maritime's offices in Safaga, Egypt and trashing them.
