Co-worker got a book about Hillary Clinton, "I've always been a Yankees Fan" I opened it up just to see what it was like and saw this quote from President Bush. This is a section talking about when Clinton had cruise missles fired at Osama never Ben Laiden. Anyway, this was quoted in Newsweek on 9/24/2001:

"When I take action, I'm not going to fire a $2 million missle at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. It's going to be decisive."

Eh... defense spending, if done correctly (R&D tax credits?), can be a great way to jump-start the economy and stimulate academia. Some might argue it brought us out of the Great Depression. Of course, it can be overdone... the Soviet Union took a more-guns-than-butter approach and look at what happened to them...

Plus, why build one when you can have two for twice the price?

Your whole rant about the quote I posted. I didn't imply anything with the statement reference bin laden's reasons for attacking us. He attacked us because he hates us, not because of any lack of sexual gratification on his part. To say otherwise is a bit immature to say the least and just plain stupid.

To say we spend no money on education is assinine as well. I have no idea how much we spend and I really don't care. I've worked in education for six years now. There is plenty of money, but there are too many government mandated programs that suck up too much of it. If they spent the money properly, there would be no problem.

As far as defense spending, what do you recommend? Stop R&D and also make our soldiers use equipment that will become outdated very rapidly? Cut the number of troops and units? Cut the number of aircraft and ships? Bring home the troops and use them to seal off the borders? If you have a better plan, lets hear it. We would truly like to have more good ideas to use. BTW, are you willing to put on a uniform and work under the reduced budget you're proposing?

Are you talking to me? If so, how does the quoted statement above imply that was his reason for attacking us? I don't see it. If you do, more power to you but I think you're seeing things that aren't there. I wrote it so I'm pretty sure I would know if it was meant to imply anything.

Hmm... considering that Bush was handed a recession, I think he's turned things around. In fact, it looks like those tax cuts did exactly the trick, they turned around a failing economy. It doesn't look like the economy is "sinking' to me.

Bush wasn't really handed a recession. A serious recession occured near the begining of his first term. He has done a decent job of bringing our nation out of it though.
