What is a good desktop replacement laptop that is under $2500, preferably under $2000?

I've been looking for a while, but I'm a bit overwhelmed. I'm fairly certain I want a AMD Turion 64 processor, as powerful of a graphics card as I can get, a TV tuner, and dual monitor DVI support (I want to be able to use my 19" monitor for movies and TV and such). And I don't give a damn about pretty colors and lights.

Are Acer or Lenova (sp?) good makers? I'd consider Dell, but I've heard too many horror stories and I don't want to pay 10% extra for the name.

Suggestions?

I like Acer. Dad got a 700mhz P3 acer laptop a few years ago. It seems to be built pretty solid. His power connection went hokey, which was able to be fixed(by a compy repair guy), but when the guy fixed it he didn't get the heatsink back on the processor right, and burned up the cpu. Thus, I've had the machine apart a few times and it seems well built and fairly easily servicable(unlike my hp laptop). So, I'd say Acer is a good bet. And I think they are made in America, though I'm not sure.

My Dell laptop has a lot of funny heads on the screws so taking is apart is a real bastard. For that reason alone I wouldn't buy a Dell again, though I haven't really had other non-self-inflicted problems with the laptop.

Dells aren't bad, I just think they are so popular that stories of them failing are common. They frequently have one day specials on their website where you can get $400 off a laptop or something.

I have a HP zv6000 custom. Not bad... battery lasts around 2 hours of constant use. OR if you are doing a lot of disk acessing it will drain in about 1h 50min.

I was thinking about getting a dell, then I noticed that they are basically PackerdBell computers. I am not, and have never been a fan of PackardBell, they made really crappy quality computers back in the day for those of you that don't remember.

How is dell in any way related to packard bell?

Wikipedia says:
A. Packard Bell withdrew from the US market in 2000
B. It's owned by NEC, and is a big competitor to Dell in Europe

I think Dell's primary fault as of late is crappy customer service. Their computers are decent quality, and very cheap compared to IBM, Fujitsu, and other "quality" brands.

I've had my Compaq Presario 2100 for 2.5 years and has worked great.

If you want a Dell, peruse Slickdeals and they have %35 off coupons pretty regularly.

I had a Gateway computer ages ago and would never, ever consider buying one again just because their tech support was absolute horrible. They had morons answering the phone who barley knew what a computer was. The only plus, was this was before the days of outsourcing to India, so when they gave you a useless, prewritten response, at least you could understand them.
