I used to use sftp on gpunix.umr.edu to get to my network drive from anywhere, but now with the filesystem change it no longer seems to work. That method was so easy. Now that they have some silly Microsoft DFS dealy, does that mean I have to use VPN to connect and samba to get to the drive? I guess that's not hard to do from the wonderful world of windows, but its probably not so simple from linux. Is there an easy way to do this?

I just ssh'd gpunix1 and it seemed to work.

gpunix was down yesterday morning, but gpunix.umr.edu should work normally.

Hi,

I was just wondering which vpn client I should use? If you even have a working config, that would be great!

Any cisco compatible vpn client should work fine. I use vpnc from the ubuntu/debian repository and it works great.

Thx -- that was also what I had heard. But what do you write in the IPSec ID field. And what about IPSec secret?

Code:
#vpnc.conf

IPSec gateway vpn.umr.edu
IPSec ID
IPSec secret
Xauth username "umr-username"
