Ok, I thought it was just the 1.3 patch, but Battlefield 2 is damn near unplayable now. At random times, and for random amounts of time, the game simply locks up. It plays 100% smooth on max settings except for this problem. I was patient for patch 1.4, as the general community consesus was that 1.3 sucked, and was the main source of problems for the game. However, I just did a clean install of the game and 1.4 patch, and still am seeing the same problems. Is anyone else having/had the same problems? And if you were, how did you fix it?

Pointless comment:

I played BF2 one time and it was probably the most buggy game I have ever played.

Well, if you don't have at least 2 gigs of RAM, you'll get this problem when you try to play with all the settings maxed...

I have 2 gigs of higher end ram. Between the random laggy shit it works fine.

The best thing you can do is try to narrow down the problem.

First, turn all your video settings to the absolute minimum. If it still lags, then turn all your sound settings to the absolute minimum. (make sure you disable voip)
If it still lags after that, try joining small 16 player maps. And if it still lags after that, try starting a single player game.

Also, make sure you defrag your harddrives, and make sure when you install the 1.4 patch, you install the full patch and not the incremental.

We don't take kindly to your "methodical troubleshooting"-type 'round here!

Install the full 1.4 patch, the incrementals are hilariously buggy.

EA make a game that has bugs in NO WAY? I just got done playing Black & White 2. I wonder if they even hire game testers. So many bugs are blatantly obvious is sick.
