Okay, so some time ago, my normal old WMP somehow got deleted from my computer, and I had to download a new version off Windows. Well, in short, it sucks. The old one was way better.

Anyway, I'm having huge trouble adding new stuff to my WMP library - I click on "Add to library..." and select a folder, but when it starts analyzing what all's in it the window will tell me it has found [insert random number here] files and has not added any of them to my library. This includes folders with all new music, and folders with half music that is already in my library and half new music.

Anyone who has experience with this version have any ideas? Know also that my computer problems stem from my being computer illiterate...

Ya it is probably best to just delete it and either get windows media player classic, or go to oldversion.com and see if they have the older version you used before.

Okay, so I deleted WMP from the toolbar, and then tried using RegCleaner and Add/Remove Windows Components to get rid of it, but whenever I try to run this older version, it says that I have a newer version installed on my computer and so cannot run. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

I think the easiest solution, computer illiterate or not, is to bypass your messed up WMP and get winamp for playing music. It has a media library like WMP, but its not nearly as cumbersome. Winamp can do video too, but I would just get VLC player for video. It has basically all the codecs you need built-in, no codec downloading hell to worry about. There are other choices, but these are easy and work well.

Okay, trying VLC... and I'm having issues. Shuffle is refusing to work and tutorials aren't helping me compose playlists. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
