while I can't help you with the triggers, there are some USB "convertors" that allow you to plug a PS(2/X) controller into a USB port. RadioShack used to sell them, and they still might. I'd check there. Mine was $25, but that was about 2 years ago.

That's what I use, and it works great. I got the adapter on eBay for around $10. (And ps2 controllers do have shoulder buttons if that's what you mean by 'trigger buttons'.)
It works pretty smoothly, too. I got one off eBay. It works great with Stepmania. Basically, you can play DDR on your computer to any song you want. w00tentag!

yea xbox cables are based on usb 1.1, the wire has 5 cables one that is not used on normal controllers, so all you do is take an extra dongle or extension cable and solder a male usb plug on it. Drivers can be found off of http://www.xbox-scene.com
