okay, i want to put a nic in my computer aside from the one already in the motherboard, but every time i try to install it it won't boot windows

suggestions, something blatantly obvious i'm doing wrong?

Have you tried every PCI slot?

EDIT: Oh, characterize 'won't boot'...POST failure? Windows blue-screens?

well, it goes through BIOS and goes through the ide check, then it gets to a black screen with the blinking underscore and won't do anything from there
