My roomate and I have been working on this beast for some time now, but he got kicked out of this school and is forced to sell it. It has a new 350 crate motor in it that has been bored out 30 over, it has a 750 cc Holly carburetor on it which the factory only had a 285 cc carb. It has an alluminum high rise intake on it, along with an alluminum fly wheel. it has a brand new exhaust system which cost almosts $700. this car was built for speed, and taking peoples pink slips. altogether he has spent over six grand into this ride, but now its day has come to be sold. Oh did I say it is officiall a classic, which means you are not requried to have emisions.
It is a 1986 RS Camaro with a 400 hp engine, and all he wants is $2500. This price is low because the car must go.

Actually, in Missouri, a vehicle has to be at least 26 years old to be exempt from emissions in the only five counties that do it. A "classic" car is usually at least 25 years old. That's how old a vehicle has to be in Missouri to be eligible for historic plates.

For one thing, if this car was an original V8 car it did not have a 285 cfm carb on it. It had a quadrajet, which is around 750 cfm. Also, you called it "cc", for cubic centimeters? It should be cfm, cubic feet per minute. Carburetors are rated by that.
Also, what exactly makes this car 400 hp? Just an aluminum intake, Holley carb, and an exhaust system will NOT make an otherwise stock motor 400 hp.
Here is how it haw 400 hp, the carb has two fuel lines runing into it, on top of a single plane intake. The motor has been taken to a machine shop to be bored out 30 over, so it is larger than a 350. This was not the original motor by the way. It has 327 headers for a 9 to 1 compression. It has a dual friction clutch ment for racing. But it has a cool intake system with a high pressure alluminum water pump. You were right the carb is 750 cfm, and not cc. this is my roomates car and I am the one just trying to sell it. This car also has a high output distriburtor.
In Missouri a classic car is a car that is 20 years old, and an Antique car is a car that is 25 years old.
Besides we are in Rolla, and Rolla doesnt require emishions anyways
i don't have anything else to do right now, so i'll rip on pretty much that entire paragraph.
two fuel lines has no effect on HP.
a .30 over 350 makes it about 355.
headers have nothing to do with compression.
the clutch has nothing to do with HP.
a HO distributor might add 3-5 HP.
i'm not so desperate for entertainment to mention all of the spelling errors, so i'll give dustin a break for now.
$950.

Wow, this is pretty much the worst post ever. Almost everything you said is completely wrong. robertd did a pretty good job of owning your complete misunderstanding of engines, but I'll further add that you have no idea what you're talking about. And I'm pretty sure there isn't some random Missouri law saying anything about "classic cars" other than historic plate opportunities. Stop posting random stupid shit that makes no sense before robertd offers you even lower, because you're lucky to get even $950 for that thing.
A 355 with 9:1 compression, a single plane intake, and headers MIGHT have 280 HP and I stress MIGHT. To get 400 hp you would need nearly 10:1 compression, aftermarket aluminum heads, a large cam, and all sorts of other stuff. Plus, a single plane intake on a otherwise stock motor would make it run like crap, they genreally perform rather poor at low RPM's. Additionally, a performance clutch has NO effect on horsepower. A high output distributor? Maybe 5 horsepower, stock GM HEI is a great system to begin with. Cold air intake? Possibly another 5, if any.
And what is this about 327 headers? You mean it has a set of ramshorns manifolds on it? All small block chevy manifolds are interchangeable...a set of headers will fit a 400 SB or a 305 in the same car.
