I have installed 3dmark 03, and 06 and both of them restart my computer when I try to load it. This problem only occurs for 3dmark and not any games.
Here is how it started:
I installed the new nvidia drivers 93.71 and they seemed screwey. My video card's clock speed were way too high and I got artifacts on my games. I had to underclock it from what it says were my "default" speeds. Anyways I wanted to check 3dmark to see if the drivers made a difference and I have not been able to get it to load since then.
Here is what I have done:
I reverted back to the older drivers that used to work, but it still restarts. I installed a new cpu, mb, video card, same ram, reformatted... still restarts (I was upgrading my computer anyways, I didnt buy the parts because of this). I downloaded nvidia drivers beta 93.81, still restarts. I updated my northbridge drivers, motherboard drivers, direct x, still restarts. I changed the setting that makes the computer restart on errors, but I never get a blue screen, just a reboot when I load 3dmark.
Any help would be appreciated. I dont think its the ram, but thats the only thing that carried over from my last computer along with my harddrive, but its been reformated. Why would the ram make it restart when I am just trying to load an application, and nothing when I run games?
Have you checked the temps? 3dMark is supposed to test the capabilities of the system, which could cause a build up of heat that your current fan setup isn't able to get rid of.

that doesnt make sense, why would it restart my computer before the application even starts running? And I have all new hardware (including new heatsink and fan) and it still restarts, so I doubt thats the problem. Somebody said somewhere that it may be the ram voltages? Is that legit or are they on crack?
memcheck ran for 23 hrs and I just ended it. It looked like it had no errors. So here is what I figured out. My memory didnt like being in dual channel mode, so I put them into the single channel slots on the mb and now it works.
Edit: Only worked once, im still having these problems.
