I purchased a Dell D510 with a docking port from the UMR bookstore last year. I have the Dport connected to a 21in lcd tv monitor. My graphics accelerator driver lets me run either run an extended desktop or a dual display clone. The extended desktop works perfect. As does the dual display clone except when I play movies. Depending which display (monitor or notebook) I set as the main display it will only display the video on the main display instead of both like it is suppose to. I know that at some point in time it displayed on both. I also know that it is not the type of player that I am using since it behaves this way for PowerDVD, DiVx player, Windows Media, and Itunes. How do I get it to display on both? Is this some setting that I don’t have right or what?

i had this problem with an ATI 9600Pro All-In-Wonder on my system a while back - it would only play video or games on the primary monitor. If i hooked it up to a tv, (not using either of the VGA ports) it worked on both, but it never played on the "secondary" monitor hooked up via VGA.
I switched to an evga 7800gs superclocked card a year ago after 2 years of the pos card from ati and have not had that problem since them. A number of issues went out the window with that card, besides it just being a low end piece of junk, which is why i will not likely buy an ATI product again, unless AMD cleans them up good. Stupid canadians
so if your card is an ATI as mine was, it could be as simple as them not supporting it.

Its likely that the D510 has neither an nVidia or ATI based card (I googled D510 and none of the specs/reviews indicated ATI/nVidia, which usually means some crappy integrated video). Either way, I've always owned ATI, even in my laptops. Both of my laptops have no problem using dual display cloning. On my ATI cards that I use in my desktops, all have had no problems with dual display cloning (that I've tried), that includes 9500Pro, 9800XT, and an X800XL (I've not attempted it with my X1800XT).

just for the record, i wasn't saying i had a problem so much with ati in particular as i did with that one card. My brother for example has an x700pro in a comp i helped him build and it's worked fine.
its just that the situation i had a similar problem to this occured on a ati 9600pro aiw card. this card happens to deserve no better than the depths of hell btw.
