Last year they moved a new roommate into my room on a weekend I was gone, without telling me about it... quite a suprise walking into my room and seeing someone new there. And upon turning on my computer I saw that he had been on it.

From my experience in TJ, you have a pretty good chance of having the room to yourself next semester. It happened to like 5 people on my floor last year.

For my last year in the dorms, my roommate decided to go to a different college about one week before classes started. Even though there were people living in a motel 16 blocks from campus, I had my own room. Rumor has it that it was only going to be for that semister, then someone else was going to move in. So I found someone else that I could tolerate and moved in with him before I got the suprise. For those of you on seek back then, he was theMysticLlama.
So, you can take your chances with reslife, or find someone else in a similar situation and consolidate.

yeah, my roommate first semester didn't even tell me he was moving out (though it didn't break my heart) came back after Christmas break he was gone, left for a couple hours, came back and i had a new roommate.

Did you guys all get roommates at the beginning of the semester? My roommate's leaving this semester. If I come back and don't have a roommate, and don't get one during the first week, am I pretty much gonna have the room to myself? Or do guys move in at completely random times during the semester?
